(2013) misunderstand several of our remarks and present what we view as f lawed arguments, principally their case for a shallow-marine environment for part of the Navidad Formation. We do not wish to see this exchange evolve into an endless discussion, but we feel obligated to clarify some points. We think this is necessary because of history and importance of the Navidad Formation as the reference for the marine Miocene of Chile. Here we also expound upon some concepts relevant to the distinction between shallow-and deep-marine environments

Navidad

Like most families, we celebrate Christmas. [So um…] In some Mexican and Hispanic families, they open their gifts on December 24th. My family takes part in this tradition because in Mexico [uh well…] Christmas isn’t called Christmas and isn’t on December 25th. You can call it Navidad. [Annette paused for a moment, while she pondered how she was going to explain the significance behind celebrating Navidad]. So, in Mexico we don’t have a Santa Clause. Instead, there are three kings who walk down the streets and they have all these exotic zoo animals with them. For example, there’s this one guy who rides on an elephant, the other rides on a giraffe, and the other rides on a peacock. These three kings deliver presents on the night of December 23rd. So like, what is Christmas Eve here, it’s our Christmas morning. My family has accommodated, where we now open our gifts on the night of the 24th, instead of the morning of that day and definitely not on the morning of December 25th—I was just raised that way. On the 24thmy mom wakes up super early to start making food for that night’s celebration. Sometimes she’ll make tamales and the thing about tamales is that not many people think about…the process. It literally takes hours, hours, and hours. Other times she’ll either make Menudo or Posole, which are meat soups. These recipes also take a long time to make, so much so you have to start preparation the day before. After we finish dinner, we each take turns opening one gift at a time. Some publications are harder to understand than others and may not be effective if the reader is not capable of fully comprehending the contents. Therefore, of great consequence is the readability of journals in the field. Análisis de equipos de pruebas ópticos automatizados

The present projects aims to characterise the performance of an optical test equipment system. The existing system consists of a c-band tuneable laser and an optical spectrum analyser, which are automated by a computer through LabVIEW software. The test system is analysed in terms of accuracy and precision and a dynamic calibration is explored to improve the performance of the system. Specifications are discussed and recommendations are made on how to improve the device test procedure with the available equipment. Finally several optical devices manufactured in the James Watt Nanofabrication Centre are tested within the analysed system. The stopband and its variability according to different injected currents are characterised in terms of reflectivity, where finally the calibration is applied to achieve more precise results. Andrés Hernández Castaño, Desde 1965 y hasta la actualidad se desempeña como especialista en comunicación visual bajo las responsabilidades de director de arte, director creativo y director de agencias de publicidad. Miembro de diferentes organizaciones profesionales del arte y la comunicación, entre ellas miembro gestor y fundador de la Asociación Cubana de Comunicadores Sociales y miembro de la Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba; así como miembro de la Asociación Internacional de Artistas Plásticos (AIAP), desde 1975. Ha obtenido más de treinta premios y reconocimientos nacionales e internacionales y ostenta el Premio Nacional “Espacio por la Obra de la Vida”, otorgado por la Asociación Cubana de Comunicadores Sociales en el 2006. Ha presidido numerosos eventos, concursos profesionales y comisiones nacionales e internacionales de Diseño Gráfico, de Publicidad y de Comunicación Social. También ha impartido numerosas conferencias y ha sido profesor invitado de diferentes universidades extranjeras de América Latina, de la India y de Europa. UCTx: a multi-agent system to assist a transplant coordination unit

We present a system called UCTx, designed to model and automate some of the tasks performed by a Transplant Coordination Unit (UCTx) inside a Hospital. The aim of this work is to show how a multi-agent approach allows us to describe and implement the model, and how UCTx is capable of dealing with another multi-agent (Carrel, an Agent Mediated Institution for the exchange of Human Tissues among Hospitals for Transplantation) in order to meet its own goals, acting as the representative of the hospital in the negotiation. As an example we introduce the use of this Agency in the case of Cornea Transplantation.Postprint (published version
